| The Scientific Aspect in Music | |||||||||||||||||||
The aspect of natural science in music concerns the naturalness of music, and that which is nature-given in music; that which in music corresponds to nature, and that which is nature itself in music. In so far as the Self is nature-given and inherent in man, music at its basis is concerned with scientific research: |
| for, with his Self the musical creator desires the music on the level of his mind; | |||||||||||||||||||
| for,
with his Self he controls and structures the music on the level of the
mind through his intellect; |
| for, with his Self he listens to the music through his sense of hearing on the level of the mind. | |||||||||||||||||||
In so far as the intellect, the means of gaining knowledge, is naturegiven and innate in man, music at its basis is concerned with scientific research; |
| for,
with his intellect the music creator controls and structures the music
on the level of the mind. |

In so far as the sense of hearing is nature-given and innate in man, music at its basis is concerned with scientific research; |
| for,
with his sense of hearing the musical creator hears the music on the level
of his mind. |
In so far as the mind is nature-given and innate in man, music at its basis is concerned with scientific research; |
| for,
with his mind as his original musical instrument, the music creator creates
the music. |
In so far as the neurophysiology is nature-given and innate in man, music at its basis is concerned with the field of scientific research; |
| for, with his neurophysiology the music creator perceives the outer, individual effect of his music. | |||||||||||||||||||
| In so far as the environment is nature-given and given to man by fate, even the outer musical performance is concerned with scientific research; | |||||||||||||||||||
| for, with the help of his environment the music creator perceives the outer social effect of his music. | |||||||||||||||||||
